Baltic Sea Region INTERREG III B Neighbourhood Programme
INTERREG IIIA South Priority Project
CROSS BORDER COOPERATION ON INTEGRATED NATURE AND WATER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT BETWEEN BAUSKA AND BIRŽAI DISTRICTS - INAWARE
Summary of the project
Due to implementation of the EU nature conservation and water management policies, Latvia and Lithuania face similar challenges thus it is important to share available experience and expertise, especially in the bordering regions where the mismanagement of resources by one party can influence the other side.
The project promotes sustainable use and maintenance of nature and water resources as well as balanced economic development in Bauska and Birzai regions by developing a number of feasibility studies: management plan for nature park "Bauska", establishment of demonstration sites for nature conservation with installation of the nature trails and demonstration sites for clean up of river banks to increase fish population, reconstruction of lock-gate in Ceraukste Parish, restoration of lake Sirvena habitats in Birzai Municipality as well as promotion of participation of local society.
